Lakeside Union has started using Instagram to show the wonderful things happening at LSUSD. I am a beginner Instagram user, but I sent in a couple pictures of our students and principals. They look great! Please follow them if you use Instagram. Their username is lakesideunion and mine is meghandingle. I think I have two pictures up there. All pictures do not have any student faces in them and are of course appropriate. I think I want to start one for Lakeview Elementary. It would be fun for everyone to see the things happening in all the classrooms.

FLL Lego Robot Team

Please join us on Thursday 9/26 from 3-5pmin room 3 (Ms. Dingle's room) to kick off theLakeview Roadrunner's FLL lego Robot Team!!

This Team will compete in a competition on either Nov 1st at Grossmount College orNov 10th in Poway.

 

The team is evaluated in three areas

The Project - this year it is about naturaldisasters

the robot game - this year our robot will have to position an evacuation sign, clear a runway, land a cargo plane, relocate structures, distribute water and deliver supplies!

 

There will be a cost for this club (to pay for entry into the competitions) so depending on the amount of kids who sign up - will depend on the cost - it will be between $25 - $40.

 

Lori Reidy will be the Coach this year and Ms. Dingle has offered to be our Teacher's Rep.

 

We will need a team Parent and if anyone else is interesting in helping with team - that would be great!!!

Conferences

Conference Schedule is up outside the classroom. 

Conferences will begin at 12:40pm and go until 3:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. I will see 7 families on those days. Conferences are for 20 minutes total. 

On Friday I will have conferences from 12:40pm until 2pm.

4th grade owl dissection for science

We dissected owl pellets today for science. Ask your child about it when they get home. 

Halloween

We are going to be carving pumpkins for Halloween, most likely with our buddies. Students will need to bring in a medium sized pumpkin by October 17. Is there anyone interested in baking the seeds and bringing them for us to try? We will also need a lot of extra carvers for the pumpkins. Donations are wonderful!

I also want to try an art project with milk jugs and battery operated tea lights. Start saving your milk jugs please. I'll start collecting ASAP. 

Fundraising ideas?

We are beginning to fundraise for Biztown (5th grade event). I've never been but I am excited to go! 

We are brainstorming fundraising ideas. We have a couple in the works, but do you have any ideas that could help us raise $2700? 

At the carnival we are going to have a boothl. What do you think would bring a lot of people and money to our booth? 

Ideas and volunteers are what we need right now please please please!

9/11

This morning we, as a school, said the Pledge of Allegiance and discussed the events of 9/11. The events were discussed by Mr. McKeever and I in a very pc manner. I just wanted to inform you of the conversation that was had in case anything came up at home. They really wanted to watch videos of it and I said ABSOLUTELY not and that it was up to their parents. If you have any questions just let me know.

Hot weather!

I'm watching the news now and it's going to be hotter than yesterday! Please have your child bring a water bottle to school. During lunch recess there will be an option to watch a movie in the air conditioned MPR.

Fall carnival

I came in today and found that our great PTA volunteers have already started on the fall carnival. We will need great donations and some volunteers to put the donations into baskets. Thank you in advance! ( I saw Upchurch's display last year. I want to beat that this year!)
